How We Verify Chiang Mai Shops
Before any rental shop is listed on Skoot in Chiang Mai, our local team visits in person. We check the physical premises, inspect a sample of the fleet for tyre wear, brake condition, lights, and service records, and verify that the shop is a registered business under Thai law. Shops that hold passports as collateral, hide fees, or have a pattern of inflated damage claims do not get listed — full stop.
Once a shop is onboarded, we keep watching. Every booking generates a review prompt in the Skoot app, and shops below a 4.2 average rating are placed on probation. Damage-claim disputes are tracked, and shops with a high dispute rate are removed. The deposit-protection model means shops cannot just keep your money — they must justify any claim to Skoot with photos and a fair invoice.
